[ The narrator is breaking up with his girlfriend. The irony is that she, not him, was the one who knew what they had wasn't working. But for whatever reason -- she might have thought things would get better, or maybe she was looking out for his interests -- she hid that knowledge, and kept what they had going.

But the narrator finally comes to the conclusion that the girl had already reached: the relationship won't work. So he tries to act like he's the only one who wants it to end, and tries to comfort her by telling her to "get back on that horse and ride." As if there's someone or something out there, better than him. ]

It's been tumultuous, bizarre, and incoherent.
It's time to take a break from it all, but the shadows won't fade from my mind.
    Damn.

Mommy and Daddy don't always know best.
I think the incredulous look on their faces when he showed them the proof proved it.

Yesterday, T and I went to the gala. It was good... Although to be honest, I would have rather been there with him. When I got home and after I ate my cake, he started talking to me on IM and said he was so close to calling me to beg T for his ticket back because he got out of work way earlier than he thought, so we coulda made it. He didn't though, and he said that was a hard thing to do. I believe him. We did get pretty good photobooth pictures, very cute black and whites. The cake afterward wasn't as good as I had hoped... But mine was actually mousse, so I guess that's why. T had cherry cheesecake, and it looked really good. The cops had stopped a bunch of kids loitering outside as we walked out... I wondered when we went it if we were gonna get jumped.

So besides the fact that my life seems to not have enough hours in the day to do what I need to do and what I want to do... It pales to what some other people are going through.

Today my mom told me that the guy who fixes our computer, Dennis, died over the weekend. He just didn't wake up one day. This was a big shock. I never would have guessed this would happen... My mom works with his ex-wife, so she found this out when someone told her that she wasn't coming in. He was a really sweet guy. He just fixed our computer at the beginning of August, and he was always asked me how things were, what I was planning to do with my life... He told me that he was growing his hair to cut off and donate to the cancer kids charity, for the wigs that they make. He went out to read to the cancer kids at the children's hospital all the time. In a way, it's ironic that he was offering support to people living with the fact that they are struggling to live... And he dies unexpectedly. If I were a praying person, I would pray for him and his family, that things would be okay. I am not a praying or religious person, however, so I can just offer my hope for the family to get through this well.
